Mrs. Leona Shiplett Hester, 92, of Holland died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in a Temple nursing home.
Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Academy First Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Boatwright and Rev. Laine Teel officiating.
Burial followed in Reeds Lake Cemetery.
Leona Hester was born July 2, 1916 to William Blane and Ada Mink Shiplet in Kentucky. She was a Temple High School graduate and was a retired homemaker. Mrs. Hester was a member of the Academy First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Hester, on January 6, 1988.
Survivors include her son, James W. Hester of Sebring, Florida; a daughter, Dolores Underwood of Holland; two brothers, Delona Shiplett of Waco and Frances Shiplett of Holland; a sister, Ann Caviness of Navasota; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Academy First Baptist Church, 304 N. State Highway 95, Little Riever, Texas 76554 or to the Lighthouse Hospice.
Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple was in charge of arrangements.
