Just in time for resolution season, a local planter is offering an easy and low impact–and not to mention savory–way to keep that New Year’s vow for better health.
Spiegelhauer Farms has kicked off its 2009 subscription drive and encourages Bartlett residents to sign up for home delivery of fresh produce throughout the year. Becoming a subscriber to the farm’s produce program is the only way to buy the fruits and vegetables grown by local resident, writer and organic gardening expert Carla M. Haskett.
Subscription gardens are a part of the community-supported agriculture movement, which brings together farmers and their neighbors. The movement provides for a fresher food supply for consumers and offers growers the certainty of a reliable market. While Spiegelhauer Farms is opening new slots for annual subscribers, space is limited.
The registration deadline for its subscription service is Feb. 14 for the 2009 season, which will begin in March and run until September.
