Lottie Gertrude Tidwell Smith, 94, of Houston, Texas passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008 at her home.
She was born March 21, 1914, the daughter of Powell and Alvena (Maurer) Tidwell in Granger. On June 25, 1938 she was joined in marriage to Jerald Walter (Jerry) Smith. She was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; sisters, Mable Carlow and Josie Rosenbalm; and brothers, Cecil, Wesley and Percy Tidwell.
Lottie is survived by her two daughters, Mona Gaudiano and husband Saverio of Seabrook and Wilma Smith of Houston; two grandchildren, Chantal Guadiano and husband Mark Whittington, and Lisa Purnell and husband Dennis; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Purnell and Cody Purnell; two sisters, Melba Zett of Austin and Imojean Cowart of Belton; two brothers, Dean Tidwell and wife Julia of Ft. Bragg, Calif., and Kenneth Tidwell and wife Yvonne of El Campo; sisters-in-law, Katy Tidwell, Kathleen Allison and Joyce Haney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family request memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, Granger.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Condra Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Roy Blair officiating.
Burial followed in Taylor City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were James Tidwell, Tommy Tidwell, Terry Tidwell, Timmy Tidwell, Dale Zett and Kenneth Carlow.
Condra Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
