Dear Mrs. Bielss,

The first six weeks have come and gone here at Bartlett ISD. It has been a thrilling period time as more students are enrolling and we had a spike due to the Hurricane Ike evacuees. Those students have since returned home; however, it is wonderful that folks all over Texas can come together and offer people a place to stay on such short notice of time. We can all do more to help those in need.

As to helping out, I would like everyone to consider joining the BISD Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). It is only five dollars to join and any funds we raise go to help the children of Bartlett. I am happy to say that our first meeting went well and am looking forward to another one very soon.

Do note that our after school program, STARS, is going strong. If you need a place for your young Bulldog to get his homework completed or just a place to have fun, we are here until 5:30 p.m. We aim to provide a safe and enriching environment for any BISD student in grades PreK-8. the STARS program director, Mrs. Erin Koehne, is happy to help in any way. Contact her at 254-527-3353 ext. 253 should you need more information.

The annual Pajama Party will be held Wednesday, October 15 starting at 6 p.m. This will run to 7 p.m. Should you want to volunteer as a reader or just come and have milk and cookies with your student. You are very welcome. Hope to see you here at Bartlett Elementary.

Allen Reese,

Elementary School Principal
