What a delight to see three letters to the editor in last week's edition. Each letter expressed an important concern that deserves answers.

The lighting downtown certainly needs to be repaired and kept in the historical theme to enhance downtown as well as providing a safe environment.

Now is the time for ALL citizens to show their support and share their concerns by attending the City Council Meetings each and every time a meeting is scheduled. For those of you who missed the last two meetings.....you should request/demand that the video of our water tower be shown again. These are pictures taken by the people who've bid the huge job of restoring this tower. Had you seen these pictures, I dare say, you would not want to drink the water, shower in it nor do laundry. It is GROSS slimy looking walls inside that tower!

Sunday morning at 5:30 I woke up with a headache. Got up to take an aspirin, no water! My first thought was "Oh no. The tower has died." Finally, when the water was back on (about 10:30a.m.) it was brown, rusty, and smelled of rotten eggs. I do believe it is required that the lines be flushed after a shut-down.....What color was/is your water?

Again, now would be a very good time for everyone to join us in Town Hall for the Council Meetings. Our "fearless leaders" need to know the majority of taxpayers want the infrastructure of our city repaired, updated and maintained properly. The last quickly called meeting was a bust since the Council voted to only do a small part of the Water Tower repair -- another bandaid effect - waste of our money. We cannot allow these very important projects to slide. The USDA loan cannot be used to repair this as it was purposed for other projects. USDA has already informed the Council of this ruling.

Please join us for the next meeting, write letters to the Mayor, Council members, etc. United we stand, divided we fail.

Sincerely,

Carol Grant
