Dear Editor,

I live downtown and never heard of the brick hunt until after it was over. I asked Alejo 2 years ago about when the street was going to be fixed and he said the contractor is starting on Monday. He went on to say that the city of Bartlett has already approved the funds. This was before Alejo stopped talking to commoners such as myself, and started to align himself with the upper escholons (eschelons) of Bartlett City Council.

The streets have been torn up for 5 years now. The brick streets are what give Bartlett its unique character. If the Chamber of Commerce focused more on "commerce" and less on "parties" there might be more accomplished in the downtown area and the rest of town for that matter. The City of Bartlett needs an industrial park to create jobs and pedestrian cross walks and police that actually patrol downtown where a lot of crime occurs. There is a lot to do here, if Alejo could just unwedge himself from the “backside” of Bill Terrell and the rest of city council.

(Editor’s Note: The article detailing the “brick hunt” sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce was published in the Tribune-Progress prior to the event for approximately two weeks in a row.)

“Backside” supplied by paper as less objectional wording.
