Austin Norville received honors as Best Actor at the District Austin portrayed Bilbo Baggins in Holland Middle School's production of The Hobbit. The OAP cast and crew left town early for an 8:00 a.m. practice with competition that afternoon. They returned home with trophies for First Place Play and Best Crew. Each student received a medal for First Place Play. Additional medals awarded to HMS students included Honorable Mention All-Star Cast members, All-Star Cast members and Best Actor! received "Best Crew" for the second consequtive year at the District 27a UIL One Act Play competition on Friday, January 9. Crew members this year were Daniel Pajestka (6th grade: Sound), Ashtyn Downing (7th grade: Lighting), Kinsey Gordon (6th grade: Stage Manager), and Alexis Festa (6th grade: Props).

Holland Middle School claimed 1st place in the District 27a UIL One Act Play Competition on Friday, January 9. Twenty-three students, under the direction of Callie Sekander, performed The Hobbit. The judge was very complimentary of the entire production, noting that the cast and crew truly executed the play as a 'troupe' rather than as individuals. Cast members included Reagan Sekander, Austin Norville, Cassidy Diab, Nichole Festa, Ashlyn Kinard, Emma Ward, Laura Ansay, Hope Moon, Ashley Hirstius, Cole Norville, Luke Haney, Ray Palousek, Dessera Evans, Chris Perez and Hannah Moon. Alternates included Tiffani Hill (who was called into service on Friday due to illness of a cast member), Lauren Lum, Carsen Wiley and Ashley Walker.
